How to find all your subscriptions
Subscriptions are easy to start and easy to forget. This is a checklist for finding every one, and none of it needs an app.
1. Your bank and card statements
Look through twelve months, not one: a yearly plan charges once a year and hides in every other month. App Store charges usually appear as APPLE.COM/BILL and Google Play ones under GOOGLE, so the name on the statement is not always the service's.
2. Apple
On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, click your name again on the page that appears, then Subscriptions. Apple also suggests searching your email for "receipt from Apple" or "invoice from Apple".
3. Google Play
Open Google Play, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Google notes that uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription.
4. PayPal
On paypal.com, go to Settings, then Payments, then the automatic payments list, and open each business there. PayPal says that canceling there usually does not cancel the subscription itself, so cancel with the service too.
5. Amazon
Your Memberships and Subscriptions lists what is active, canceled and expired, with each renewal date and price.
6. The places people forget
- Your phone billSome subscriptions are billed by your mobile carrier, and are canceled with the carrier.
- Free trialsA trial that has not charged yet is on no statement. Note the day it ends.
- Family membersA subscription somebody else in the family started is canceled from their account.
Then keep the list
Finding them is the hard part, once. Tendd keeps what you found in one calm list, with the monthly total and when each charge is next, and you can add them yourself without linking a bank.
